Hook Up (Partner Tag)

This game is a tag game that is played outside.  It's great to play on a summer night because it's cooler.  There is a lot of running so running in the heat of the afternoon could get a bit exhausting.

What you need: a large grassy area to play in
# of people: 6 or more

How to Play: Before starting designate someone who is "it" and someone who is the "extra player".  Then have everyone pair up.  The pairs will hook arms with each other and then stand in a circle.  Once everyone is "hooked" then play will start.  The person who is "it" will start chasing the "extra person".  The "extra person" will try to hook onto one of the pairs before "it" catches them.  If "it" catches the "extra person then the "extra person" becomes "it" and they will turn around and start chasing the person who was "it" but is now the "extra person".  If the "extra person" hooks onto one of the couples before tagged then the person on the opposite side of the hook up is now the "extra person" and starts running from "it".  For example: Cindy is hooked to Joe, if the "extra person" hooks onto Joe then Cindy now becomes the "extra person".

If you happen to have an odd number of people you can play and just have either 2 people be the "extra person" or have 2 people be "it".

Oatmeal Relay

Fun Party Games for Adults is excited for you to try this game.  If you like getting dirty and sticky this is the game for you.  It's a great one for summer because you get all grouse and nasty outside and then you can follow it up with a water fight to get rinsed off!

Materials: swim suits or old clothes that you don't mind getting dirty, 2 large pots of oatmeal, raisins
# of people: 8 or more

How to Play: Make 2 large pots of oatmeal and let it cool.  Take the top half of each pot of oatmeal out of the pot and put temporarily into a bowl.  Mix equal amounts of raisins into the bottom half of both oatmeal pots.  Then put the oatmeal that you took out of the pots back in the pots to cover up the portion of oatmeal that has the raisins.

Take the pots of oatmeal outside and put them at the end of your relay course.  Split the players into 2 teams. For the relay the players on the team will run to the pots of oatmeal one at a time and dig through the oatmeal to retrieve 1 raisin.  Once the player has a raisin they will run it back to the team and drop it in a bucket. They will then tag the next team mate.  The team to win is the first team to retrieve all the raisins in their pot.

Dance Craze

This game will get all of your guests up and moving and having a great time.  It doesn't take long to play and there is no preparation needed.  It's just a lot of fun and great for getting everyone comfortable and laughing.

materials needed: pen and paper for every player
# of people: 2 or more

Hand everyone a small slip of paper and tell them to write down any noun they would like on the paper.  Don't tell them what it is for.  After everyone has written down a noun collect the slips of paper and put them in a bowl or a hat.  Then one by one have everyone draw one of the slips of paper out of the hat.  Each person will have to take turns making up a "dance craze" or simple dance move for whatever word is written on their slip of paper.  They will first do the move and then everyone else will follow.  Once all the slips of paper have been taken and everyone has had a turn to make up a dance move you can play again or move onto dinner or your next game or whatever you want!

This can also be played in couples so that 2 people are coming up with 1 dance move for whatever word they have on their slip of paper together.

Would You Rather?

This is a non competitive game that is more for the fun of the conversation it promotes.  It can be part of a planned party with a large group or can be played on the spot while trying to pass time while on a flight with a friend or family member.  Either way Fun Party Games for Adults is sure you will love this game.

No materials needed
# of players: 2-20

This game starts by randomly picking a player to pose a question that starts with "would you rather..."  It usually ends with 2 options that are embarrassing, gross, scary, horrifying or just plain uncomfortable.  The other players must then tell which thing they would rather do and explain why they would rather do that.  Clarifying questions can be asked before answering.  Once everyone has given their answers and reasons why, someone new will ask a new "would you rather....?" question.

Here are some examples of questions:

Would you rather have your nose grow every time you tell a lie or, always be forced to tell the truth no matter what?

Would you rather be mute or, have to always be talking or making noise?

Would you rather get punched in the gut every 5 minutes for a year or, have to eat a spider every 5 minutes for a year?

Police Lineup

Today Fun Party Games for Adults brings you a game called Police Lineup.  This game was found in a great games book called "The Games Bible" written by Leigh Anderson.  This is a must have book for any game lover.

Materials: pen and paper/index cards
# of players: 6-12 plus a moderator

Prep: Head of time the moderator will write down a bunch of "crimes".  Some examples are "you wore white after labor day", "you farted in the elevator", "you left the toilet seat up" etc.  Write 1 crime per paper or index card.

How to Play: As your guests arrive give them a card with a "crime" on it.  Have them memorize it, write their name on it and give it back.  Once everyone has a crime have the moderator draw one of the cards randomly.  He will look at the name on the card and then invite 3 people (including the person who is on the card) to come to the front in a lineup.  The moderator will then read the crime out loud.  Then the other players will ask questions to try and figure out who is the guilty party. The 2 innocent people will be trying to act guilty because if they are not guilty and someone guesses they are then they get a point. The players then write down their guesses on who they think is the guilty one.  The real guilty one confesses and then the next round begins.

Scoring: Everyone who guesses right gets a point.  The 2 non guilty lineup members get a point if someone thought they were guilty.  The guilty party gets a point if no one guessed him.  The person with the most points after each crime is solved wins.

We are sure you will love this one!

Scavenger Hunts

Remember doing scavenger hunts when you were a kid? Well Fun Party Games for Adults has a few suggestions today on how to make them for adults.

Magazine or Newspaper Hunt: Hand everyone (or each team) a newspaper or a magazine and a pair of scissors.  Then give them a list of words or things.  They must find and cut out everything on the list.  It can be either a picture of the items on the list or written in text form.  The first person/team to get all the items on the list cut out wins.

Road Trip Hunt:  Before leaving on your road trip make a list of things that you may find along the way. With this one you can play every man for himself, split into teams or just work all together to find the things.  Have some of the things be things you have to collect like "a square of toilet paper from a gas station bathroom." Then have some other items on the list be things to take a picture of, like "picture of a welcome to Texas sign."  Whoever has the most items on the list when you reach your destination wins.

Bridal Shower Hunt:  For you next bridal shower shake it up by dividing into teams and have everyone go out and find wedding related things. Examples: a flower, rice, a thank you card, a flier for an exotic location, gift wrap etc.  Set a time limit that everyone must be back by and whoever gets back on time with the most items on the list wins.

With these ideas you can find the child and have a great time!

Sports Bingo

Sports Bingo is a great game to play while watching "the game".  It can be played while watching almost any sport on t.v.  So the next time you have "the gang" over for "the game" try playing Sports Bingo.  It will keep those who aren't as interested in the game it's self having fun watching it too. Fun Party Games for Adults hopes you like it!

Materials: Paper and Pencil (If you want to make it a betting game as well you can each player bring a few bucks for the pot).
# of players: 2 or more

How to Play: Before the game the group will come up with things that players might do, like spit, argue with ref, adjust clothing, scratch, drop the ball etc.  You can have as many of these as your group would like.  Each player then "adopts" a player on one of the teams playing.  Write the predictions horizontally across the top of the page.  Then write the guest and player they are adopting vertically down the left hand side of the page and draw lines to make a graph. For example, if you were playing this game during the 2011 Super Bowl your sheet might look like this:

During the game the guests will watch their player very closely and every time they do one of the actions on the paper they will put and x or a check mark in the square that lines up with their name and the action.  At the end of the game whoever has the most checks in their row wins the pot.

Golf

At Fun Party Games for Adults this is a classic game.  Our family plays it all the time, it's a great card game that doesn't take long and it's great for families because both kids and adults have fun with it.

Materials needed: deck of face cards, pen and paper to keep score
# of players: 3-7 (if you play w/ more people you might need to add a 2nd deck of cards)

Goal: The goal of the game is to have the least amount of points showing in your cards at the end. Card values are listed at the bottom.
How to Play: deal 9 cards, face down, to each player.  Players are not allowed to look at their cards.  Each player will lay their cards out in front of them, face down, in 3 rows of 3, like the picture below.

The rest of the cards go in a stack in the middle.

To start each player turns over 2 cards of their choice.  The top card in the middle stack is then turned over.  The 1st player can take that turned over card or reject it and take one blindly off the top of the deck in the middle.  If they take the top card and like it, they can replace it for one of their own (either turned over or not turned over). If they do not like the card that is turned over from the center stack they can reject it and just turn over a new card of their choice from their own 9 cards.  The 2nd player can then either decide to take the discarded card showing in the discard pile or can reject it and take their chances with the top of the center pile.  Play continues like this around the table.  The someone has all the cards in front of them turned over, all other players have one more turn.  Once the game is over everyone turns over all of their cards and points are counted.

If at any time you have 3 cards of the same number in a row either horizontally or vertically (not diagonally), you may remove and discard all 3 cards.

Points:
2-10 are face value
Jacks and Queens are worth 10 points
Kings and Jokers are worth 0 points
Aces are worth 1 point.

Balderdash!

Fun Party Games for Adults usually tries to tell you all about games that you can play with things that you already have around the house.  Today though we are bringing you an actual board game that you will need to go get in the store or online.  This one is worth buying though.  It's great for small group parties.

Materials needed: The board game Balderdash
# of people: The box says 2-6 players but if you have a few more that will work too.

How to play: This game is a game of bluffing.  It comes with a board, 6 pawns, die, score cards and clue cards.  There are 5 categories on each clue card.  The categories are Peculiar People, Laughable Laws, Marvelous Movies, Incredible Initials and Weird Words. On each card there will be one clue from each category, here is an example of one of the cards.

On the other side of the cards is the answers.  The point of the game is for each player to give a false answer to the question and try and get others to think it's the right answer.  You get points by getting people to vote for your answer and for voting for the right one.  This is a great game for the creative bluffer!

Fruit Basket

This is a great family game that will get you laughing! It's great in any setting and with all kinds of groups, it's not difficult and you don't need anything to play.  It's a great one for camping trips too!

Materials needed: none
# of people: 4 or more

This game is simple.  The players will all sit in a circle.  Each player will pick a fruit that they will be identified with.  No 2 people can have the same fruit.  Once everyone has chosen their fruit and stated it to the group play will start.  All that will happen is 1 person is chosen to start and they will say something like "apple calling grape" (apple being their own fruit and grape being another players fruit).  Whoever is grape will then say "grape calling kiwi" and kiwi will say "kiwi calling huckleberry" and so on.  When it's your turn you can call out any fruit in the circle but your own.

The catch that makes the game funny and challenging is that players must talk with their lips curled over their teeth.  No player is ever allowed to show their teeth, even if it is not their turn.  It can get pretty hard because it's pretty funny to watch and listen to people talk with their lips curled around their teeth, so when you laugh you have to try and laugh without showing your teeth.

There are 3 ways to get "out"
1. You will be out if you show your teeth at any time.
2. You will be out if you hesitate in calling out another fruit on your turn.
3. You will be out if you call a fruit that none of the players chosen.  For example, let's say there are 8 players grape, strawberry, peach, grapefruit, blueberry, banana, apricot and huckleberry.  If grapefruit says "grapefruit calling apple" then grapefruit would be out because there is no apple.

The last person left after everyone is out is the winner.

No Lei!

This is a great ice breaker game for small to medium groups.  It will get your guests mingling and laughing.  Fun Party Games for Adults is sure your next dinner party will be a blast with this one!

Materials needed: a lei (or any kind of necklace) for each guest.
# of players: 6 or more

How to Play: This game is simple, each guest is given a lei when they arrive.  Once all guests have arrived you will explain the rules.  The players are not allowed to say the word "no".  Anyone who does say the word "no" has to give their lei to the person who catches them say the word "no" first.  Usually players will talk to each other and try to get others to say the word "no" so they can collect more lei's.  The person who has the most lei's at the end of the night wins.  Those who loose their lei's can still participate by getting someone else to say the word "no" and collecting a new lei.

Your guests will love playing No Lei!

Signs

This is  great game for Teens and adults, it can get pretty funny. The players have to be quick and sneaky!

Materials needed: none
# of players: 6 or more

Players sit in a circle and select a "sign," or small physical motion that is unique to them. The "sign" should be easily recognizable, but not overly exaggerated (for instance, a small hand motion such as a thumbs-up or V sign work well). A player is selected to stand in the middle.
Play begins with a randomly selected player around the circle (P1). (The person in the middle is not told who the person is.) P1 now "has" the sign, and his/her goal is to "pass" the sign on to another player (P2) as quickly as possible without being caught by the person in the middle. In order to do so, P1 will perform P2's sign. However, P1 still "has" the sign until P2 "receives" or "catches" it by performing their own sign. P2 will then "pass" the sign on to another player as quickly as possible. In some variants of the game, once P1 passes the sign to P2, P2 automatically has the sign; P2 does not need to "receive" the sign from P1.
The person in the center (P3) must try to catch a player "with" the sign. P3 will look around the circle, searching for movement, accusing players by asking some variation of "Do you have it?" A player in the circle may not lie to this question. If P3 correctly identifies the player that "has" the sign, the players trade places and another round begins, with a different player selected to be the first person. It is generally forbidden for P3 go down the line of players and ask them all if they have the sign. It is also against the rules to change who you are passing the sign to. If the person does not see you, you may not try and send it to another player.
In one variant, the game does not need to be played in a circle all at the same time. It generally works best in a large social environment, like a school, church, or camp. The game starts as players, generally a very large group (25+), associate themselves with everyone's sign. Then one person is selected as "it". A player is also selected to start with this sign. Once the two have been selected, life goes on as normal, except now with the random passing and catching of signs throughout the day. However, if the "it" discovers who has the sign, the new "it" does not need to announce their new position as "it".

Guest Guessing

Here is another great icebreaker brought to you by Fun Party Games for Adults.  This is a great game for people to get to know each other better.

Materials needed: Coins/stickers for each player, 4x6 cards and pens
# of players: 6 or more, this is a great one for fairly large groups.

Prep: prepare the 4x6 cards by writing statements on them that the guests will have to finish.  Examples: My most embarrassing moment is..., My favorite holiday is...., My first date was....., I have never....., I love to...., etc.  Make sure you make enough for each player to have one.

How to play:  Place the 4x6 cards in a pile face down.  Each player will be given a card.  The guests are given a few minutes to fill in the blank on their card.  Once the time is up the cards are again collected and shuffled into a pile again.

Each player is then randomly given a card again.  The first player will read what's on the card and guess which guest filled in the blank.  If they get it right then they get a coin/sticker from the person who wrote that answer.   If they get it wrong then the person who really filled in the blank gets to take a coin/sticker from the guesser.  Whoever has the most coins/stickers at the end wins.

The Apple Game

The Apple Game is great for couples parties.  Some couples can get pretty competitive and this game is great for those kinds of couples, it's a lot of fun and pretty funny for those watching from the side.  You can make it pretty simple or very difficult, it's up to you!

# of players: 4 or more (must be played in pairs)
Materials needed: an apple/ball/orange/grapefruit or pretty much anything smallish and round for each couple.

How to play:  Each couple playing holds an apple between their foreheads (to shake things up you can also have them put it between other body parts like shoulders, hips, lips, knees etc).  A leader then gives commands of things that the couples must do without dropping the apple like, "take a step to the side" (easy), "shimmy" (moderately hard) or "do the Macarena" (very hard).  Whichever couple keeps the apple between them without dropping it is the winning couple.

During the summertime you can play this game outside and with water balloons instead of apples, if the water balloon drops but doesn't break the couple may pick it up and continue, if the water balloon pops, then the couple is out.

Have fun with The Apple Game!

Scum!

Welcome again to Fun Party Games for Adults.  Today we have a great card game for you to try.  It's best with a smallish group.
materials: a deck of face cards or Rook cards
# of players: 3-7

How to play: The first round is played neutrally, meaning everyone starts as equals.  Deal out all of the cards (even if some people have one more card than others).  Once the cards are dealt choose someone to go first.  This can be chosen by rolling a dice to see who gets the highest roll or by something like the person with the next birthday goes first.  The person going first plays 1, 2, 3 or 4 cards of the same number, usually playing his lowest cards makes the most sense.  Play goes around the table in a clockwise direction.  Each player must play a card higher than the person before them.  So if player 1 started with a single 2 the next person would have to play a 3 or higher, if player 2 played a single 5 the next person would have to play a 6 or higher.  If it gets to a point where a player can't or doesn't want to play then they can pass.  Play continues around the table until everyone passes except the person who played the last card.  Once a player has passed in a round, they can't play again in that round.  The cards are then cleared and discarded and the person who played the last card starts the next round with the card/s of his or her choice (all players who passed at some point during the previous round can now play again).

If the person who starts the round decides they want to play a double or a triple everyone then must play a double or a triple in that round, for example: player 1 plays a double 4, player 2 must play a double of 5 or higher.  The goal is to get rid of your cards first.

The first person to get rid of all of his cards is the King for the next round, the second to go out is the Queen, the last person to go out is the Scum and the 2nd to last person to go out is the 2nd Scum.  All those to go out between the Queen and the 2nd Scum have no titles.  Everyone will rotate seat to sit in the order that they got rid of their cards.

When the next round starts the Scum has to give the King his best 2 cards and the King gives the Scum whatever cards he wants (usually something low).  The 2nd Scum gives the Queen his highest card and the Queen gives the Scum whatever 1 card she wants.

The King always goes first from this point forward.

Have fun playing Scum!
